  • ALL-IN - When you have put all of your playable money and chips into the pot during the course of a hand;

  • BAD BEAT - This refers to losing a hand when you were the strong odds favorite to win;

  • BRING IT IN - The card that must force the action on the first round of betting;

  • BUY - To bluff, hoping to "buy" the pot without being called;

  • CHECK-RAISE - The act of checking a hand, in hopes of luring your opponent to bet, so that you may then raise over him and build a bigger pot to win;

  • CUT-CARD - Another term for the bottom card;

  • DEAL - Distribute the cards to the online poker players;

  • DECK - A set of playing-cards. The deck consists of 53 cards, including the joker;

  • EQUITY - Your "rightful" share of a pot;

  • FLOP - The first three community cards, put out face up, all together;

  • FACECARD - A jack, queen, or king;

  • GUT SHOT - A hand where you have 4 of the 5 cards needed to make a straight, but your 4 cards are not "connected" or in sequential order, so you need a single card in the middle of your straight to complete the straight;

  • HIGH-LOW SPLIT - Online Poker games where half the pot goes to the highest-ranking poker hand and half goes to the lowest ranking poker hand;

  • KICKER - The kicker refers to your tie-breaking card;

  • LOW POKER - Online poker games where players aim to have the lowest ranked poker hand;

  • LOCK-UP -A chip marker that holds a seat for a online poker player;

  • MISDEAL - This ia a mistake on the dealing of a hand which causes the cards to be reshuffled and a new hand to be dealt;

  • OUTS - The number of "outs" refers to the number of cards in the deck to make your winning hand;

  • OPEN - Already you may yo make the first bet in a round;

  • POT ODDS - The total amount of money in the pot compared to the amount you must put in the pot to continue playing;

  • PLAY THE BOARD - To show down a hand in online texas hold'em poker when your cards don't make a hand any better than is shown on the board;

  • PAT - Not drawing any cards in a draw game;

  • ROCK - AN online poker player who plays very tight, not very creatively. He raises only with the best hands. A real rock is fairly predictable;

  • SEMI-BLUFF - The act of betting on your hand when your hand is not made yet;

  • SECOND PAIR - A pair with the second highest card on the flop;

  • STRADDLE - An optional extra blind bet, typically made by the online player one to the left of the big blind, equal to twice the big blind. This is effectively a raise, and forces any poker player who wants to play to pay two bets;

  • SPLITTING OPENERS - Dividing openers in hopes of making a different type of hand;

  • TILT - This terms refers to a poker player who is angry, upset, or emotionally unstable, impacting his texas hold' em poker game in a negative manner. An online player on tilt will often play erratically and more aggressively than his usual tendency;

  • TABLE STAKES - Rule saying that a player may only wager money they have on the table at the beginning of a hand, in other words, they can't put their car keys down as a bet;

  • UNDER THE GUN - The position of the player who acts first on a betting round;

  • WINNING HAND - The hand that takes all the chips in the pot because it is the highest hand in the current game;
